PREP + PHOTO DAY INFORMATION
We are so excited for our upcoming complimentary photo shoot with Rachel Noel Studios!
Please review the information below carefully so our prep sessions and photo shoot can run smoothly, efficiently and with as little stress as possible for our dancers.
PREP SESSION ASSIGNMENTS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE FILE AT THE TOP OF THIS PAGE
Monday, August 17
3:00–4:00 PM
8:00–9:00 PM
Tuesday, August 18
3:00–4:00 PM
8:00–9:00 PM
The purpose of our prep sessions is to have each dancer’s pose and apparel selected and prepared in advance, allowing the actual photo shoot to remain efficient, productive and low-stress. With many dancers being photographed in a short window, arriving prepared will help everyone get the most out of this opportunity.
Dancers are welcome to brainstorm pose ideas ahead of time, but we cannot guarantee a particular pose will be used.
During prep, we will select and refine each dancer’s individual pose, approve apparel and make any necessary changes. Final selections may be adjusted based on safety, timing and what will photograph best.
Dancers attending a 3:00 PM prep session should arrive approximately 15 minutes early to warm up and stretch, or complete a thorough warm-up at home before arriving.
If your dancer is unable to attend a prep session, we will do our best to assist them on photo day as time allows. Because of the pace of the shoot, we cannot guarantee the same amount of time for pose selection, apparel adjustments or preparation that day.
Please note that prep groups and photo groups are not necessarily the same. Assignments were made using submitted availability and requests while balancing ages and group sizes when possible, as requested by the photographer.
APPAREL
Please bring at least 2–3 dancewear options to your assigned prep session for approval. We will help each dancer choose the option that works best for their pose and the overall look of the photos.
Great options include:
Please avoid: black, gray, brown, very dark colors, busy prints and large or prominent logos.
No tights or socks. Photos will primarily be taken barefoot. Tap shoes may be used if they are part of the dancer’s selected pose or look.
Purchasing new apparel is not required. We are happy to work with pieces dancers already own, and any new purchases are entirely at each family’s discretion.
The additional apparel options are for selection purposes. Each dancer will be photographed in one approved look. Once apparel is approved during prep, dancers should arrive at the photo shoot already dressed in that look.
HAIR, MAKEUP + FINISHING DETAILS
Dancers should arrive styled and photo-ready. Hair should be neat and intentional. Appropriate options include hair down and styled, partially pulled back, a high ponytail, performance-ready high bun or braid.
Please no pigtails or decorative hair accessories. Simple, minimal earrings are welcome.
If your dancer plans to wear their hair down or partially down for the photo shoot, please have them wear it that way to their prep session. This allows us to make sure the hairstyle works with their selected pose and gives dancers an opportunity to practice the complete look. Hair adjustments or alternate styling may be suggested during prep based on the pose and what will photograph best.
Please bring a brush/comb, hair ties and bobby pins that match the dancer’s hair color, and any necessary styling supplies in case adjustments are needed. Please plan to recreate the approved hairstyle for photo day.
Dancers should wear natural, complementary makeup appropriate for their age. The goal is a polished look that enhances their features without appearing heavy or distracting. Lip gloss or a natural lip color is appropriate. False lashes are optional but should be natural-looking if worn.
Nails should be clean, neat and neutral. Please avoid colors, designs or nail lengths that may draw attention in the photos.
Please also arrive with clean feet and remove temporary tattoos, marker, stamps or similar markings when possible.

Group B: 1:00–2:00 PM
Group C: 2:00–3:00 PM

Dancers should complete a thorough warm-up and stretch at home before arriving. We cannot guarantee there will be adequate time, space or appropriate flooring at the studio for a full warm-up. Dancers should arrive physically prepared to safely perform their selected pose.
The photo shoot areas will be closed to families. Only dancers will be permitted in the designated photo areas. BLDC staff will remain with dancers throughout their session.
The studio will be provided with an online gallery with printing, posting and sharing rights.
Parking: Free parking at the studio is limited. We strongly encourage families to carpool as much as possible to reduce congestion and help avoid parking ramp fees.
PLEASE NOTE
Photo and prep groups have been carefully assigned based on submitted availability, requests and balanced group sizes. If your assigned time creates a conflict, please contact us as soon as possible. Because the schedule and group sizes have been carefully coordinated, changes cannot be guaranteed.
Please arrive on time and fully prepared. The photographer will be working within a set schedule, so individual or group photos cannot be guaranteed for late arrivals. Additional poses or retakes are also subject to available time.
We appreciate everyone’s help in preparing ahead of time and are looking forward to a fun and special experience for our dancers! 💙
