Understudy Notice - Comp Plus Dances
Being selected as an understudy is a valuable opportunity for a dancer to further their training in an additional discipline or group.
The instructional hours for the understudy class should be included when calculating your dancer’s tuition, just as they are for all other recommended classes. However, the understudy class should not be included as a “team” on the Consolidated Fee Worksheet.

Please carefully review the following understudy expectations:
- Understudies must attend all rehearsals for the dance throughout the entire season.
- Understudies must attend all required technique classes for the discipline of the dance.
- An understudy placement does not guarantee that the dancer will perform at a competition or performance if a team dancer is absent.
- Multiple dancers may be selected to understudy the same dance.
- If an understudy is asked to perform the position at one or more competitions, the family will be responsible for the entry fee for that dance at each applicable competition.
- Understudies are not required to pay a costume deposit or costume balance unless they permanently assume a team position in the dance.
- Dancers understudying a guest choreography piece will be responsible for additional fees associated with participating in the choreography-setting process with the guest choreographer.
