2017-2018 RECITAL POLICIES AND INFORMATION
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY.
SOME OF THIS INFORMATION REFERS TO EVENTS THAT WILL TAKE PLACE AT A LATER DATE.
Important Dates----You must be available for all of these dates
The mandatory dress rehearsal will be Thursday, May 3, 2018.
The Spring Concerts (recital) will be held on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5, 2018.
There will be multiple performances on those days.
Your dancer may be asked to perform in more than one show and on more than one day.
Both the dress rehearsals and concert performances will be held at Zeeland’s DeWitt Auditorium, located on the corner of 96th and Riley streets. The address is 3333 96th Ave., Zeeland, MI 49464
Concert Fee
If paying by cash, check or money order, the concert fee is $80 for the first dancer in a family and $20.00 for each additional dancer in the same family.
The concert fee is due with your Feb/March tuition payment.
For this fee you will receive:
One DVD of your account’s “Primary” show (you will select one show’s DVD if assigned more than one “Primary” show),
4 concert tickets per family for your "Primary” show and a T-shirt to be worn for the concert finale.
Concert t-shirts will be distributed in the Green Room the day of the concert. If your child dances in more than one show, please remember to bring the shirt back for the other shows. Replacement shirts will not be available.
A Summary of What to Expect
Concert Performance Assignments – Primary and Secondary shows
In order to assure enough available seating for each show, we assign each family a “Primary” show. “Primary” shows cannot be requested.
If a dancer is also assigned a “Secondary” show this means she/he is performing in that show as well as in her/his “Primary” show. Some dancers may be assigned 1, 2 or 3 “Secondary” shows.
We try to make sure that siblings are performing at least one of their dances in at least one show together. However, this is not always possible. In order to try to accomplish this, some dances need to be performed in two or more shows.
We wish that students with multiple dances could perform all of their dances in one show, but in the past this has proved to be impossible. Show schedules are final. Thank you for your understanding.
Reserved Seating Ticket Sales
Ticket sales will be in April.
Ticket sales are final and non-refundable.
Tickets must be purchased for children ages 3 and up.
Because dancers are not allowed in the audience at any time during a performance, do not purchase a ticket for your dancers.
Please watch for information regarding ticket sale details at a later date.
With the payment of your concert fee, you are entitled to 4 concert fee tickets for your Primary show. Additional tickets will also be available for purchase.
Dress Rehearsal
The Dress Rehearsal is a closed rehearsal. Please do not bring friends or relatives with you.
You will receive a rehearsal schedule later in the spring. Rehearsal may start as early as 4:00 PM, so you may need to make special arrangements for getting your dancer to the auditorium.
All dancers should arrive at DeWitt Auditorium in full make-up and costume for dress rehearsal at the time scheduled. Rehearsals are time-consuming so we need to start early so we can be finished as early as possible. Please be on time so that we may keep as close on schedule as possible.
The scheduled arrival time is not necessarily the time your dancer will be practicing on the stage. If needed, bring homework or some activity with you because you might have some unavoidable “down time”. Dancers are asked to sit quietly in the auditorium until they are called back stage. A parent must be seated in the auditorium with their dancer(s) during the dress rehearsal.
DURING THE DRESS REHEARSAL ONLY, BRING YOUR VIDEO CAMERA! You are welcome to take still photos and videos.
Performance Day(s)
Dancers should check in for the Dance Concert ½ hr before show times. Check in locations will be announced during dress rehearsals.
VIDEOTAPING AND FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT THE CONCERT PERFORMANCES.
We appreciate your cooperation!
Costumes cannot be ordered if we have not received the concert costume form with measurements taken by you along with the costume payment. If you have paid for the costume previously, please indicate that on the form.
No costume orders will be made without payment and a completed form.
Late payment could result in added shipping costs or, possibly, in your child not receiving a costume in time for the recital.
Costume companies do not allow us to “add to an order” once an order is placed.
No returns or refunds on costumes.
Appearance Release: By participating in the annual dance concert (recital), you are agreeing to allow BLDC and/or its assignees, the right to photograph and /or videotape your dancer. These images may be used by BLDC and/or its assignees for advertising purposes.
Recital Costumes
Signed Concert Costume Forms and costume payment will be accepted any time before, but no later than October 5.
Costume Fees are $78 per dancer per dance (Cash, Check, Money Order or Credit Card)
Combo X Class Costume Fees are $85 per dancer per dance
Costumes for the Spring Concert will be selected by the instructors.
In most cases, it will be the responsibility of the parent to choose a costume size. We will provide the measurement charts for each costume company. The parent will be able to compare the dancer’s measurements against the sizing chart and will select a size to be ordered for the dancer.
Parents or a representative are required to choose a costume size on their dancer’s class day and time on Mon, November 6 through Thu, November 9.
Costume sales are final---Sorry, we cannot accept returns or issue refunds. Costume companies do not accept returns and very rarely accept exchanges on costumes. It will be the responsibility of the parent to pay any additional costs involved, including but not limited to, shipping, handling, re-stocking fees, etc.
As costumes arrive for the Spring Concert, we will try them on the dancers to assure everything is O.K., but will not be sending them home until all classes’ costumes have arrived. You will receive instructions for costume, make-up, and hair when costumes are sent home in the spring, approximately 2 weeks prior to the Spring Concert.
Required Shoes
Dancers participating in the Spring Dance Concert will need the required dance shoes for the performance.
