Our competition teams are open to dancers grades K-12. Being a member of the competition teams at BLDC is a way to expand on your dancer’s current training experience. If your dancer loves to come to dance class and is excited about performing, then the competition program may be a good option for them! We have many teams accommodating dancers of varying ability levels.

COMPETITION TEAMS
Our multi faceted competitive program offers students the opportunity to develop their dance education while expanding their focus within the realm of dance. In addition to competing at regional and national competitions, our competitive students are exposed to academic discussions and projects, various performance opportunities, in-studio master classes with professional guest instructors, exploration in artistry and an expanded "class menu" that includes strength and flexibility classes, modern, acro, conditioning, pointe work and more! Basic program requirements include multiple technique and rehearsal classes (specific to each dancer) each week that results in their own "custom schedule".
Building self confidence and encouraging a strong work ethic in this accelerated and disciplined program is just one of our many goals. Our staff works eagerly to help students achieve their pursuits and strongly believes that developing the person as a whole is just as important as developing the dancer.
Past and present students in this program have achieved the following:
-Acceptance as dance majors and minors to reputable colleges such as Belhaven University, the Boston Conservatory, Columbia College, Florida State University, Grand Valley State University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Muhlenburg College, North Carolina School of the Arts, Oklahoma City University, PACE University, Western Michigan University.

Can anyone participate in the Standard and Comp Plus competition programs?
Our auditions for competition teams are open to all dancers ages 4 and up. Placement in the BLDC competition program is determined by audition. We have many teams accommodating dancers of varying ability levels. If a dancer demonstrates the adequate technical skill and shows a positive and hardworking attitude, the instructors will place him/her on the appropriate team(s). The instructors use many criteria to determine the appropriate team(s) for each dancer. They include, but are not limited to: Classroom Effort and Enthusiasm, Dedication and Determination, Age and Experience, Performance Quality, Technical Skill Level, Information gathered from former BLDC instructors.

PART-TIME COMPETITION TEAMS
We are very excited to launch our new part-time competition program! The "Sparks" and "Fusion" teams have been added to our competition program to allow families more options regarding time and financial commitments. With a weekly commitment of 2.25-2.75 hrs, team members have time in their schedules for other activities. There is no audition needed for these two teams.
