Dancers who test positive for Covid-19 can return to class after:
Exposure
When we are notified, we will contact you via email if someone in your dancer’s class has tested positive for Covid 19. A person with COVID-19 is considered infectious starting 2 days before they develop symptoms, or 2 days before the date of their positive test if they do not have symptoms.
Dancers will need to attend class virtually for 5 days if they were in class with a student who tests positive for Covid-19, or if they were exposed outside the studio, unless they have been *fully vaccinated. Policies for dancers with a positive case in their household (according to vaccination status and isolation considerations) are explained below.
Dancers who have tested positive and recovered from Covid-19 can attend class in-person after exposure unless more than 90 days have passed since recovery from infection. If more than 90 days have passed since recovery, follow the policies according to vaccination status.
Vaccinated dancers can continue to attend class in-person unless they experience symptoms. However, fully vaccinated dancers should get tested 5 days after exposure even if they don’t have symptoms.
*A person is considered Fully Vaccinated if:
They have been boosted
OR
They completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months
OR
They completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months
Positive Covid-19 Case in Your Household
If someone IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD tests positive, dancers can return to class in-person according to the guidelines below.
Dancers can return to class after this time if they have no symptoms.
COVID-19 Policies:
With the safety of our families and faculty in mind and with the advice of medical professionals, BLDC will be implementing Safe Return Protocols and Policies to allow us to hold in-person classes. We are scheduling classrooms with only as many students as we can accommodate with social distancing. Therefore, class sizes have been reduced and availability is limited.
We all know that patience and flexibility is required in our lives now more than ever. Just as with things outside the studio, there will be developments outside our control which may affect our plans and decisions. We remain focused on providing the best education and experiences for our students while we navigate continued uncertainties.
Covid Policies. All students, staff, family members and visitors must comply with the current safety procedures. As the information and guidelines regarding COVID-19 are fluid, procedure updates will be posted on the BLDC website and will be emailed to the address associated with your account. Policies may be altered at any time.
BLDC has an established COVID-19 response and notification plan. Should BLDC become aware of any cases, students, staff and teachers will be notified via email as soon as possible. Should an event occur, BLDC will take all necessary steps to properly close off, disinfect and clear any studio or area needed. Should the need arise, any classes affected will be able to continue classes through Zoom until the studio is ready for classes to resume. There will be no refunds for classes that are required to move to Zoom.
Remote Classes. All classes will be held in-person as much as possible. If it is necessary to close our physical location, classes will convert to remote learning through a live and interactive platform until we are able to return to an in-person format. Each of our 8 classrooms is equipped with cameras, computers and the technology needed to provide a seamless transition for any required movement back and forth from in-person to remote formats. Remote classes will be held live on the same schedule as the students’ in-person classes. Classes can also be taken remotely if an enrolled student is unable to come to the studio to take class in-person due to illness or quarantine.
Current Mask Policy: Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, BLDC has relied heavily on guidance from public health experts to determine appropriate safeguards for our students and staff. Our decisions are based on recommendations from the Ottawa County Department of Public Health (OCDPH), the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Currently, dancers and BLDC staff will be required to wear masks at all times inside the building. BLDC will constantly be evaluating COVID-19 conditions and the best ways to keep our staff and dancers safe with the least amount of hindrance to their classroom experience and dancing. Wearing masks will allow us to run our classes in the typical fashion, with more interaction with the students’ peers and teachers. We also believe this will give us the best possible chance of keeping our students classes in-person.
Students will have the opportunity for short mask breaks when the teacher indicates. Masks will only be removed when individuals are more than 6’ from each other.
We are hopeful we will be able to lift the mask requirement if cases of COVID-19 in our area decline and it is no longer recommended by the CDC and/or local health departments to wear a mask indoors (regardless of vaccination status). If at some point we are able to lift the mask requirement, we will send an email update.
We understand that this policy is welcomed by some and opposed by others. Wherever you stand, we ask for your continued patience and understanding. We remain committed to the safety of our dance families.

- A minimum of 5 days since symptoms first appeared or, if you don’t have symptoms, 5 days since your positive test date.
